Request for Fee Waiver
You may request a fee waiver if you are unable to pay application and biometrics federal fees mandated by USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for an application or petition that is eligible for a fee waiver. When you request a fee waiver, you must clearly demonstrate that you are unable to pay the fees. There are many ways to qualify for a fee waiver. Examples are listed below:
Means Tested Benefits
You may qualify if you, your spouse or the head of the household living in your household is receiving a means-tested benefit. Some examples of a means-tested benefit include:
* Medi-cal or Medi-caid
* Cal-fresh
* Cash-Aid
* General Relief (GR)
* SSI (Supplemental Security Income)
* CAPI (Cash Assistance Program for
Immigrants)
* TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families)
Household income
Income must be is at or below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
